Abia / Imo Stakeholders laud Tinubu over interstate road, urge contractor to expedite action

The Member representing South East Development Commission, NEDC, Chief Sam Onuigbo has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resolve to ensure the completion of the Ubakala – Umunwanwa Udo na Obizi – Achingali road.

Speaking at a consultative meeting with Stakeholders over the poor state of the interstate road held at the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Ngodo in Umuahia South LGA, Eze Stephen Ihuoma , the former House of Representatives Member noted that the APC led Federal Government has shown it’s desire to address the yawning infrastructural deficit in the South East Zone and the consequent marginalization through so many actions.

Chief Onuigbo expressed concerns over the slow pace of work on the road despite the federal government’s commitment and appealed to the contractor handling the project to return to site without delay to achieve the desired target.

In his speech, a renowned Sports administrator and a Community Leader from Mbaise Imo State, Chief Amanze Uchegbulam also thanked President Tinubu for the upward review of the road contract and expressed confidence that this will enable the realization of the project.

He described the road as strategic as it would ease the transportation of farm produce by farmers in the area as well serve as a better alternative to those travelling from Owerri/ Mbaise to Umuahia.

In his remarks, the Traditional Ruler of Ngodo Autonomous Community, Umuahia South Local Government Area, Eze Stephen Ihuoma recalled the untold hardship the deplorable state of the road whose bridge was destroyed about fifty – eight years ago, during the civil war has caused the people .

He made it clear that the road when completed will go a long way in erasing the scars of the Civil War and appreciated Chief Sam Onuigbo for his facilitating role.

In their Separate Speeches, the President General, Umunwanwa Autonomous Community, Chief Fidelis Okebugwu, that of Ngodo Autonomous Community, Chief Jonathan Anyanwu and their Ubakala counterpart, Elder Friday Ogbuehi represented by the Secretary Chief Ndukuba Uwaoma as well as Chief Victor Ahuzie from Obizi in Imo State, described the slow pace of work by the contractor as a source of concern and expressed confidence that the current moves will yield positive result.
