Following the launch of the Electric vehicles for the mass transit system in the State, the Abia State government has announced the routes for the newly procured electric buses which will offer free Transport services to the people during the yuletide.
A release by the commissioner for information, Prince Okey Kanu says four buses would be on the road as from Wednesday, 24th December, 2025 to offer free intra-city transport services under the pilot scheme.

According to the release, Two of the buses would operate in Umuahia while the other two would be in Aba.
The release explains that in the capital city, Umuahia , the Routes would be: Isi-gate to Ubakala and Okpara square to Express tower
For the commercial nerve centre, Aba, the Routes would be: Osisioma to park and Park to Ala-oji through port Harcourt Road
It adds that the Mass Transit buses would also commence free inter-city operations with two daily trips from Umuahia to Aba and back to Umuahia .
According to the release, each bus will have one pilot and a co- pilot.
Commuters would be treated on- a – first come- first- served- basis and are expected to follow the instructions of the pilot and his co-pilot for better commuter experience.
