Following the announced suspension of the sales of petrol in Naira by the Dangote Refinery, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN has made public that its members would effect a petrol price hike nationwide from Monday, 29/9/25.
Speaking in a chat with DAILY POST, the National President of IPMAN, Abubakar Maigandi, pointed out that Dangote Refinery sent an email on Friday to its customers, including marketers, informing them of the suspension of petrol sales in Naira with effect from Sunday, 28th September 2025.
He argued that the situation would result in fuel pump prices increasing from their current N865 and N910 per litre in Lagos and Abuja.
The IPMAN President made it clear that the new puma prices will take effect on Monday if the Federal Government fails to address the Naira-for-crude-oil allocation with Dangote Refinery.
“Yes, we received the email from Dangote Refinery on the suspension of Premium Motor Spirit sales in Naira on Friday evening. The implication is that our members will announce a fuel price increase. It may take effect from Monday if the Federal Government does not intervene,” he disclosed.
In taking the decision to halt the sale of refined products in Naira, Dangote Refinery had cited exhaustion of its crude-for-Naira allocation.
Recall, the 650,000-barrel- per-day Refinery has in recent times been enmeshed in controversies with different Stakeholders in the industry on several issues which the company always attributed to sabotage.
