Ihedioha moves to reoccupy Douglas House, briefs supporters on ADC

A former Governor of Imo State and former Deputy speaker House of Representatives , Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has described the process that birthed the final choice of African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official platform for the new coalition in Nigeria as painstaking but ultimately rewarding.

Addressing the leadership of his grassroots support group , Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM), Rt. Hon. noted that the coalition is the coming together of credible Nigerian voices and an assemblage of Nation builders and patriots bound by love for country and not lust for power.

“History doesn’t just happen. It is made by those courageous enough to chart new paths.

While emphasizing that the movement was patient in its decision and was never directionless, the former Deputy Speaker pointed out that the goal was to anchor with a platform whose internal democracy, national outlook, and developmental ethos matched the ideals of the Rebuild Imo Movement.

“We could have compromised. We had offers. But we chose to wait. We would rather remain party-less than disappoint you.”

Reiterating that his style of inclusive leadership remains unchanged, he assured, “I will carry everyone along, work with everyone, and deepen internal democratic systems at every level. That’s my guiding principle.”

He urged the RIM leaders to go to their chapters, wards, local areas and zones to build ADC as a truly grassroots and people based political party.

“I urge you, as leaders of our Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM), to go home to your respective chapters, wards, LGAs and zones, and take this gospel to the grassroots, to the people. We are people oriented. Our strength is the people, the masses.

“We already have representation in all the boots in the 305 wards in the state, and our structure across the 27 LGAs and three geo political zones are strong, viable and functional. Just go home and invigorate our RIM structure which is highly effective a superb,” he urge them.

The gathering marks a formal launch by the former Governor of a movement towards his desire to reoccupy the Douglas house and succeed the current Senator Hope Uzodinma led administration.
