The Executive Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has charged youths in Umunneochi to embrace positive values, acquire relevant skills, and shun social vices in pursuit of a brighter and more productive future.
Speaking on Wednesday, 28th October 2026, during the Abia Orientation Agency’s programme held in Umunneochi, themed “Future Ready,” Mayor Afurobi described the initiative as timely and essential.
He therefore stressed the need for continuous value reorientation, responsible behaviour, and youth empowerment.
The Mayor enjoined youths to take advantage of opportunities in vocational training, entrepreneurship, technology, and other areas of skills acquisition, pointing out that discipline, hard work, and self-reliance are essential to personal growth and community development.
Mayor Afurobi used the forum to commend the Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti, for supporting grassroots sensitisation and value-reorientation initiatives aimed at promoting responsible citizenship among young people.
To this end, he reaffirmed his support for the 2027 re-election bids of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, Honourable Chief Amobi Godwin Ogah, and Honourable Mathias Nwachi Ume.
The Mayor further declared support for Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex in his aspiration to represent Abia North Senatorial District in the Senate in 2027.
