Democracy Activist and Sports Ambassador, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has called on the federal government and other relevant Agencies to come to the rescue of the Arochukwu correctional centre currently lacking crucial facilities.
Mazi Okoronkwo who was speaking at Ikeuj Boxing Promotion Headquarters, No. 7 Ikechukwu Okoronkwo Otiokpo Avenue, Amangwu Arochukwu, Abia State on Saturday after extending humanitarian service to the Nigerian Medium Correctional Centre, expressed concern over the poor state of the Staff quarters and the prison club for recreational activities.
He further lamented over the poor state of Vehicles for conveying inmates to court, poor welfare and called for the sinking of a solar-powered borehole to reduce dependence on the national grid.
The Ex-international boxer who ministers the word of God to inmates that received the message of salvation with excitement, made some cash donations to enable them to address some challenges.
Mazi Okoronkwo used the visit to appeal to the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti to invoke Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution on Prerogative of Mercy to grant pardon to deserving inmates.
