The Executive Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has commended the people of Ubahu Nneato for the prevailing peace in the area and for preserving their cultural heritage.
Mayor Afurobi who made his feelings known at the 2026 Iri Ji Ubahu Nneato celebration held at the Orie Ubahu Market Square congratulated the people on the successful celebration, assuring that his administration remains committed to the development of the area.

He pointed out that his administration had already attracted some signature projects to the community and expressed his readiness to do more as funds become available.
Mayor Afurobi specially appreciated the three Councillor representing Nneato for their support and commitment to his administration, describing them as great allies in the drive to move Umunneochi forward.
Mayor Afurobi also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for creating an enabling environment for elected leaders at the grassroots to succeed.
He noted that the Governor’s quality leadership has endeared him to the people of Abia State, and expressed confidence that the people would continue to support his administration.

The Council Boss used the forum to commend, the member representing Umunneochi state constituency, Rt. Hon. Mathias Ume Nwachi for his outstanding performance as a legislator and called on the people to continue supporting Rt. Hon. Nwachi in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities.
The Mayor equally appreciated Rt. Hon. Amobi Oga for what he described as his legislative ingenuity and consistent efforts towards placing the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency on the national map.
He therefore called on the people of the constituency to continue supporting the re-election of Rt. Hon. Amobi Oga for the continuation of his good works and the candidacy of Chief Ogbah Onuoha Bourdex for the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, the Member Representing Umunneochi in the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mathias Ume Nwachi, promised to continue supporting his people and contributing towards the preservation and rejuvenation of the cultural heritage of the community.
Also speaking, Hon. Nwankwo and Hon. Nze Nlenanya expressed delight over the Mayor’s presence at the Iri Ji Ubahu celebration, noting that his attendance added greater colour and significance to the event.

They further appreciated Mayor Afurobi for the various projects executed at the Orie Ubahu Market, including the construction of a major culvert, modern evening market equipped with solar lights, borehole and street lights, among other facilities.
The Mayor was accompanied to the event which was a colourful display of rich cultural heritage, as the people of Ubahu Nneato by notable dignitaries.
The event featured colourful masquerade and acrobatic displays, cultural dances, and the traditional yam-scaling competition to identify the 2026 Di Ji (Best Yam Farmer/Champion).
