Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has been re-elected to serve the people of Osun State for another four years after scoring 66,252 votes above his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Declaring the result Sunday morning in Osogbo, the State Capital, the Returning and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Olalekan Ogunwole Officer, Prof. said Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who garnered 444, 815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress Candidate, ADC, Najeem Salaam came a distant third after polling 17,180 votes.
According to Prof Ogunwole, the Osun Governor won 19 Local Government Areas out of the 30 in the state, while Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, clinched 11 LGs in the Saturday governorship election.
Meanwhile celebrations have erupted in different parts of the State following the official announcement of the victory of Governor Adeleke in the fiercely and keenly contested election that generated lots of interests and Controversies.
Hanto Daily News gathered that most of the Bigwigs of the APC including the Governors who have been in Osun since Friday Nicodemusly departed early Sunday morning after discovering that their candidate, Oyebamiji could not make it.
