Just 40 days after a couple got married via mass wedding, the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old woman, Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to poison her husband in Gwamma village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.
The command in its official X handle on Thursday, (August 13, 2026), in a statement endorsed by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the suspect allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s food on Wednesday, August 12.
Bauchi Police command explained that officers were alerted through a distress call from an anonymous woman and were immediately mobilised to the scene.
According to the report, the victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The police which revealed that the suspect later confessed to the crime during interrogation however disclosed that the man is in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poison, alongside remnants of food, have been recovered and registered as exhibits.
