Rt.Hon. Ogah Bags Strategic Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement Award, Earns Minister of Education Praises at ECAN Education Summit

The dictum that a golden fish has no hiding place once again came to manifestation as the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Infectious Diseases, and member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, was honoured with the Strategic Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement Award by the Education Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (ECAN).

The prestigious award which was presented by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, during the 2026 ECAN Education Summit held at the Barcelona Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja according to the organizers. is in recognition of his commitment to fostering effective collaboration among government institutions, communities and the media to strengthen Nigeria’s education sector.

In his goodwill message, Rt. Hon. Ogah represented by his Media Aide, Engr. Elem Chukwuemeka, commended ECAN for providing a credible platform to assess the impact of government policies on the education sector, stressing that accountability remains one of the hallmarks of democracy.

The Lawmaker lauded the association for bringing together policymakers, education experts, academics, development partners and media professionals to evaluate ongoing reforms and proffer solutions to the sector’s challenges.

He further applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s education reforms, such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and the LUMINAH 2030 programme designed to empower more than one million underserved girls and women through education and economic opportunities.

Hon Ogah pointed out that the initiatives demonstrate the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and strengthening human capital development.

The National Assembly member also welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to suspend the implementation of the 16-year minimum university admission policy and the proposed increase in WAEC and NECO examination registration fees, describing the move as a demonstration of responsive leadership that listens to the concerns of Nigerians.

He therefore called for sustained investments to tackle the challenges of out-of-school children, inadequate infrastructure and underfunding in the education sector.

Hon ogah appreciated ECAN, the Minister of Education and the Minister of State for Education for the honour, describing it as a testament to his unwavering commitment to promoting educational development through strategic partnerships, effective stakeholder engagement and people-centred leadership.

In their presentations, the organisers, the Strategic Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement Award commended Rt. Hon. Ogah’s outstanding efforts in fostering effective collaboration among government, communities and the media to strengthen education and advance human capital development.

The summit, themed “Three Years of the Tinubu Administration: Assessing Reforms, Progress and Challenges in Nigeria’s Education Sector,” attracted senior government officials, heads of education agencies, lawmakers, development partners, academics and journalists from across Nigeria.
