Former Secretary to the Benue State Government (SSG), Prof. David Salifu has reportedly died of gunshot wounds sustained in the hands of suspected kidnappers.
Emerging reports say the former SSG died after sustaining gunshot injuries during an attack by the kidnappers in Wukari, Taraba State on Thursday while he was travelling to Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.
According to reports from Daily Post, though Prof Salifu escaped with gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital in Makurdi for treatment, he was later confirmed dead on Thursday night.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Benue Command nor security authorities are yet to issue any official statement on the attack.
