As Nigeria marks her 27 year of uninterrupted Democracy, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Due Process, Oluebube A. Chukwu, has commended Governor Alex Otti for what he described as transformative governance in Abia State, while calling for renewed commitment from leaders and citizens towards addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
In a release to commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day message, Chukwu pointed out that June 12 remains a significant reminder of the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for the nation’s democratic freedom and the need to continually strengthen democratic institutions.
He expressed delight that the administration of Governor Alex Otti has demonstrated that democracy can deliver tangible benefits to the people through transparency, accountability, infrastructural renewal, improved public service delivery, and prudent management of public resources.
The Due Process Boss noted that the governor’s reforms have restored confidence in governance and accelerated development across various sectors of the state.
Dr Chukwu pointed at ongoing investments in infrastructure, institutional reforms, due process compliance, and human capital development and described them as evidence of a government committed to serving the people and ensuring that public resources are utilized for the common good.
He made it clear that the Otti administration has continued to promote transparency and accountability in government transactions, thereby strengthening public trust.
While arguing that democracy thrives when leaders remain accountable to the people with citizens actively participating in governance processes, the Governor’s Aide urged Nigerians to uphold democratic values, reject corruption, and support initiatives that promote national unity and development.
On the insecurity ravaging the country, Dr Chukwu expressed concern over the persistent threats posed by banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other criminal activities across the country and called for greater collaboration among security agencies, state governments, community leaders, and citizens to tackle insecurity and safeguard lives and property.
He pointed out that security remains a collective responsibility and appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant, support lawful security efforts, and provide useful information that could assist authorities in combating crime.
Dr Chukwu however expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, Chukwu, stressing that with visionary leadership, responsible citizenship, and strong democratic institutions, the country can overcome its challenges and achieve lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
He therefore congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and urged citizens to continue supporting efforts aimed at building a more secure, united, and progressive nation.
