As the political drama in Rivers State continues to unfold, Two additional members of the State House of Assembly: Barile Nwakoh, representing Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, have joined the ranks of members seeking peaceful resolution of the impasse.
The Duo who appealed to their colleagues to halt the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy Ngozi Odu, explained that their position shift was influenced by interventions from well-meaning leaders within the state.
The development which comes just 24 hours after two other lawmakers: Sylvanus Nwankwo, the Minority Leader representing Omuma Constituency, and Peter Abbey of Degema Constituency made similar calls indicates that the move by the Niger Delta Leaders Group, PANDEF, to intervene in the matter has started yielding fruits.
They maintained that though the governor and deputy allegedly breached constitutional provisions, there was the need to seek amicable resolution of the situation in the interest of Rivers people.

Recall, Governor Siminalayi Fubara had on Sunday while speaking during the Armed Forces Celebrations and Remembrance service expressed confidence that the impeachment saga will be peacefully resolved .
Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly is expected to reconvene on Friday, January 15, 2026, to further discuss the matter.
