Africas’s pride and World record holder, Tobi Amusan, this Monday, (15/9/25) captured silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships in the Japanese city of Tokyo.
Amusan made it within 12.29 seconds, finishing behind Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland who won gold with a new national record.
Grace Stark of the United States, got the bronze medal after clocking 12.34 seconds to narrowly beat her compatriot Masai Russell narrowly that concluded the race in 12.44 seconds.
The silver medal by Amusan is Nigeria’s first medal at the championship and the feat has reaffirmed her as one of the most consistent hurdlers in global athletics.
Recall, Amusan, set the world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022.
