Tinubu’s Aide speaks against massive decamping to APC, resigns.

In what seems to be an unusual way of politicians in Nigeria’s polity a Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu has resigned.

In a letter addressed to the president through the chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila on Sunday, Audu said his action is in protest to the incessant defection of politicians, especially governors and lawyers from various parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Audu who made it clear the resignation is with immediate effect said he would not be used as a tool to reduce Nigeria to a one-party State, stressing that his decision was not borne out of rebellion but following his ideals and conscience.

“Though I do not align with the PDP, I refuse to be used directly or indirectly as an instrument to reduce Nigeria to a one-party state.

“That would be a betrayal of both divine favour and democratic principle,” Audu said.

He further condemned the alliance between the president and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

While noting that leaders owe it to God to protect the values and justice within the system, the former presidential Aide however assured that he would continue to do his bid by supporting the government in power for a better Nigeria.
