There are no factions in PDP – Turaki led Executive

Following the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on the leaderships tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Ibadan convention elected Executive of th party has dismissed claims of a leadership split within the party.

Making the clarification while responding INEC’s decision to reject the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC), the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, insisted that the is not divided into factions.

Ememobong who expressed disappointment at the electoral umpire’s declaration pointed put that the PDP has appealed the judgement relied upon by INEC in rejecting the Turaki-led NWC.

The statement reads thus: “The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party reiterates that, in law and in fact, there is no faction within the PDP.

“This clarification has become necessary following INEC’s letter citing Federal High Court judgements as the reason for its inability to recognise and upload the details of our legitimately elected leadership from the Ibadan convention.

“The judgements in question have been appealed, and applications for a stay of execution have also been filed. The Court of Appeal is expected to hear and determine the matters soon.

“The fact remains that there is no faction in the PDP, as all legitimate organs and the administrative structure of the party are under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.”

Recall, INEC had on Monday announced that it would not recognise the national officers elected at the PDP’s National Convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a letter dated December 22, 2025, and signed by its Secretary, Dr Rose Anthony, the commission explained that it was unable to upload the list of the elected officers on its website due to existing court judgements.
