PDP Govs to Wike – National convention must hold as scheduled

Another round of political crisis is brewing within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as Governors elected on the platform of the Party have boldly responded to recent demands and threats issued by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his allies regarding upcoming National convention of the once touted largest party in Africa.

Speaking during the inauguration of the party’s National Convention Planning Committee this Tuesday(2/9/25), the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, made it clear that they would not succumb to what they described as arrogance, impunity, or divisive actions.

While vowing that the party will uphold discipline within the party, he assured that the governors are united, confident, and ready to defend the PDP’s integrity and future, regardless of any internal opposition.

Governor Mohammed therefore dismissed the threats by Wike and his group, declaring that the convention would hold as planned.

“We will no longer allow or tolerate anybody to take us for granted. It has to stop. Enough is enough.

“We are not cowards, and we are not afraid of anybody.

“We are capable of navigating this party beyond the shenanigans, beyond the arrogance, and beyond the impunity of others,” he boasted.
