Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress, APC, led federal government says over 500,000 students are currently benefitting from the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja this Monday, 29/9/25 to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.
Alhaji Idris revealed that the policy covers tuition and upkeep fees for students in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
According to him, the fund represents an unprecedented milestone in Nigeria’s history and reflects the commitment of the Tinubu led administration to human capital development.
“As we speak, more than 500,000 students of tertiary institutions – universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, are already benefitting from the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), in which tuition and upkeep fees are paid for by the federal government,” the Minister pointed out.
He assured that the current administration’s broader reforms are some at promoting prosperity, peace, and unity under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
