Following his return to Port Harcourt after a foreign trip suspected to have taken him to meet with President Bola Tinubu in France, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents of the state to stay calm amidst the State House of Assembly’s decision to proceed with moves to impeach him.
Speaking at a church service on Sunday at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebrations and Remembrance Day, Governor Fubara reassured the congregation that the situation would be resolved.

The Governor who attended the event with His deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and other senior government officials, explained that his silence amid the unfolding developments was intentional, stating that his confidence and resilience are rooted in his faith in God.
Referring to comments he made during the New Year banquet at the Government House, the governor reiterated that “dogs bark when they do not understand”.
In her speech, the Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Ngozi Odu, appealed to the people to continue praying for the administration, describing their prayers as a vital source of strength for the government.
In a sermon during the occasion, the Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Blessing Eyinda, encouraged the public to conduct themselves responsibly, pointing out that every action would one day be remembered.
