Ganduje Steps aside as APC National Chair

There are indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC), may soon experience uncertainty regarding the 2027 general elections following the reported resignation of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to sources and unconfirmed reports, the former Kano State governor who announced his decision this Friday, 27/6/25 pointed out that he needs to step down to focus on his well-being, citing health concerns as reasons for this.

Sources further stated that following his resignation, the APC’s National Vice Chairman is expected to assume leadership in an acting capacity pending the party’s national convention scheduled for December.

The move, may not be unconnected to intense pressure from stakeholders within the APC, especially from the North Central zone, who have repeatedly called for the chairmanship position to return to their region.

There is also mounting internal opposition over Ganduje’s leadership style and the party’s internal power dynamics while according to some highly placed politicians, former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso an Arch rival of Ganduje is being persuaded by President Bola Tinubu to join the party.
