Community lauds OACF for sustaining monthly sanitation exercise

The people of Umuchieze in Umunneochi LGA of Abia State converged in their numbers on a popular local market in the area, known as Afor Lokpaukwu for the December monthly sanitation exercise put together by the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation, OACF.

The exercise which witnessed high tournament out of the Indigenes and residents as well as members of the Foundation despite the cancellation of the mandatory monthly Clean-up exercise by the Abia State to enable interrupted preparations for the yuletide, saw participants with their implements joyfully cleaning their cherished market.

Speaking during the exercise, the Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Oguama David, described the clean-up exercise as a tradition rooted in consistency and commitment.

He noted that the Foundation’s determination to sustain the initiative proves that meaningful change does not happen overnight but is built through steady, intentional action.

Mr Oguama while attributing the feats recorded so far to the inspiration from the initiayor of the Foundation Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, noted with delight that his vision for community development has continued to translate into tangible impact.

He therefore commended Dr Chukwu for his leadership and unwavering support and the volunteers who continue to give their time and strength to the cause.

In his speech, the President General of Amaubiri Lokpaukwu Autonomous Community, Engr. Nelson Okechukwu Chukwu, lauded Dr. Oluebube Chukwu’s compassion for humanity and highlighted the Foundation’s broader interventions, including scholarships, business grants, and empowerment programmes that are helping vulnerable individuals rise above poverty.

Contributing, Hon. Uche Joel Obumneme, Councillor representing Lokpaukwu Ward, and HRH Eze Felix Emenike (Ikejimba III) of Uru Autonomous Community, described the exercise as welcome development and encouraged the Foundation to sustain its growth.

Hanto Daily News correspondent who monitored the exercise reports that the sanitation initiative, held on the last Saturday of every month started sometimes ago as a modest sanitation exercise has grown into something much bigger, with each passing month witnessing increases and reflecting a growing sense of ownership and responsibility among residents of Umunneochi Local Government Area.
