Bandits strike again, abduct unspecified number students from a Niger State Catholic School

Just some days after the abduction of 24 school girls in Kebbi State, another gang of Armed men have attacked a Catholic school in Niger State, abducting several school children and staff

According to reports the abduction took place at St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri, Community, Agwara local government area.

Though the number of the abducted is yet to be officially ascertained, sources say that the school was raided late Thursday night, with several students reportedly taken.

A source from the affected church also disclosed that the official records were still being compiled.

“Yes, it is true, but I am not in a position to give details. The church will release an official statement later today,” he said.

In his own account, Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, Head of Disaster and Relief in Agwara Local Government, confirmed that the assailants struck between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.

Also according to him, the exact number of abducted students and staff is still being assessed.

The Secretary to the Niger state government, SSG, Abubakar Usman, who confirmed the incident pointed out that schools were directed to close down and wondered why the affected school reopened.
