Governor Otti’s governance model is enhancing Grassroots development – Dr Oluebube Chukwu

Special Adviser to Abia Governor on Due Process and Head, Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Dr. Oluebube O. Chukwu, says the institution of a governance model anchored on transparency, accountability and prudent resource management, by Governor Alex Otti is delivering visible results and accelerating development at the grassroots.

Dr Chukwu who made the observation during the Labour Party State Working Committee’s project assessment tour in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State noted that Governor Otti’s reforms have strengthened due-process compliance across government structures, empowering local councils to execute quality projects that directly benefit citizens.

He described the progress recorded in Umunneochi so far as a clear demonstration of how disciplined governance and procurement standards can transform communities.

The Due Process Boss applauded the leadership of Umunneochi LGA for aligning with the state’s development agenda, particularly in the areas of security, power supply, infrastructural development and youth-oriented programmes.

While assuring that Abia will continue to experience rapid, value-driven development under the current governance model, Dr Chukwu reiterated government’s commitment towards supporting councils in delivering impactful initiatives.

The Technocrats who urged residents to continue their weight behind the Otti administration maintained that Abia will continue to experience rapid, value-driven development under the current governance model.

In his remarks, the Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Sir Emma Nwaeze Otti, applauded Gov. Otti for what he described as a transformative, accountable and people-oriented style of leadership that has fast-tracked development across the state, pointing out that his emphasis on transparency, infrastructure renewal and grassroots empowerment has restored public confidence and raised the bar for governance in the State.

Sir Otti commended the people of Umunneochi for their unalloyed support for the Labour Party and urged them to remain committed to the administration’s development vision.

“The development we see here demonstrates what can be achieved when the right values and systems are in place,” he stressed.

Sir Otti who used the visit to inaugurate the interim Labour Party executive committee for Umunneochi LGA, urged the team to uphold party principles, mobilise community support and collaborate with authorities to advance people-focused programmes and development initiatives.

Presenting his address, the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afuruobi, outlined the progress recorded in his first year in office, emphasising that his administration has prioritised security, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and sustainable energy to drive grassroots socio-economic growth.

Chief Afurobi noted that the council’s strategic focus is to improve the welfare of residents and strengthen community development structures across the LGA.

Highlighting key achievements, the Mayor listed them to include installation of 140 stand-alone solar street lights, execution of several erosion control projects, and construction of the Achara Bridge to enhance rural access.

Others are the construction of a security and administrative building at the Ndiawa military base, youth empowerment programmes, renovation of council facilities, and deployment of solar-powered inverter systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the secretariat.

He attributed the successes attained to prudent resource management, disciplined governance and strong support from Governor Alex Otti and thanked Umunneochi residents for their cooperation,

He vowed to sustain the momentum, stressing that his administration will continue to deliver impactful projects and ensure the LGA remains a model for grassroots development, security and innovation in Abia State.
