As the world commemorates the World Humanitarian Day, the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation has called on individuals, organisations and governments to continue supporting vulnerable people and creating opportunities for those in need.
In a message marking the day, the Foundation noted that the event observed annually on August 19, stresses the need for compassion, kindness and greater support for vulnerable communities.
The Foundation pointed out that humanity is strengthened when people choose to care, serve and stand with those in need, emphasizing that every life matters and every act of kindness can create meaningful change.
It further made it clear that humanitarian action plays an important role in restoring hope, protecting dignity and building stronger communities.
The foundation used the opportunity to celebrate humanitarian workers, volunteers and changemakers whose efforts continue to make a difference in communities, particularly through acts of service, compassion and selflessness.
While echoing the words of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres that celebrating humanitarians alone is not enough, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect and safeguard humanity, The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation therefore called on everyone to embrace the theme of this year’s celebration, “Act for Humanity. Inspire Hope,” and make compassion and service a daily commitment.
The Foundation reminded all that meaningful change begins with individual acts of kindness, adding that every act counts in the collective effort to restore dignity, inspire hope and build a better society.
