NDC Gets 17 Reps Two After Obi, Kwankwaso Joined Party

Barely two days after two popular Nigerian politicians, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso left the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to sojourn in the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, 17 lawmakers from the coalition party in the House of Representatives have defected to the NDC.

The Speaker Abass Tajudeen who made this public on the floor of the House on Tuesday 5/6/26, also announced the defection of Leke Abejide from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He named the Representatives that defected to the NDC to include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande and Munachim Umezuruike.

Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene and Abdulhakeem Ado.

Former presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi is known to have wife support from the Obedient movement made up of mainly youths while Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of NNPP is the head of the Kwankwasiya Movement that has controlled the politics of the most populous northern State, Kano.

Analysts say more are expected to join the NDC in the coming days following the entrance of the two popular former Governors who have agreed to work together for the 2027 polls.
