Rivers Assembly Formally Drops Impeachment Proceedings Against Fubara, Deputy

There are indications that the recent political crisis in Rivers State has ceased for now as the House of Assembly has officially stopped the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu.

Reports say the House made the pronouncement after adopting a motion to halt the impeachment process on Thursday (19/2/26) during its resumed sitting in Port Harcourt.
However, this development is not unconnected to the recent intervention President Bola Tinubu who directed that the impeachment move be stopped.

Recall, the President recently met with Governor Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and leaders of the assembly to end what has become a debacle in the oil rich State.
