As the crisis within The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continues degenerating, the Turaki led National Working Committee of the Party has constituted a Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Abia State.
The caretaker committee is as follows: Mr. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow – Chairman, Chief Ochiobi Fidel Chukwuemeka – Member, Engr. Gladys Okoro – Member, Chief Chijindu Kalu – Member, Samuel Chukwudi Mike – Member, Seth Agomuo – Member, Mrs. Ugo Kalu – Member, Obinna Nwaogwugwu – Member and Felix Nwagbara – Secretary.
The PDP in a statement issued this Monday, 9/2/26, by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong explained that the decision was approved by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended).
According to PDP, the committee is mandated to manage the affairs of the party in Abia State in accordance with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution, adding that the tenure of the caretaker committee will not exceed 90 days, or until a new state executive is elected.
The PDP expressed confidence that the caretaker committee will work diligently to reposition the party and ensure stability in its Abia State chapter.
