APC Stirs Controversy, removes Gov Uzodimma as Chairman National Convention

Following its decision to make some adjustments to guarantee a successful convention, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as Chairman of its National Convention Central Coordination Committee.

The broom party in an official statement issued by its National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, this Friday says Governor Uzodinma has been replaced by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, while the Imo State Governor was reassigned to serve as Treasurer of the convention body.

The APC also announced the expansion of the size of the committee from 73 members to 90 members, adding that it is aimed at strengthening the planning process and widening political representation across the party.

According to the new arrangement, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is the Vice Chairman II.

However, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, remains Secretary of the committee whereas Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior party figures were included in the new list.

The Party explains that Its leadership reviewed the structure of the committee after further consultations with national stakeholders to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated national convention.

“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2020 National Convention has been reconstituted.

“Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course,” the party revealed.

The APC National Convention is scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.
