The effort by the legal team of the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi to secure a better medical attention for its client has been thwarted as the Federal High Court Abuja has okayed the Department of State Services, DSS, medical facility for Kanu’s medical care.
Reports say the decision followed the submission of its findings by the Nigerian Medical Association , NMA, team assigned by the court to look into the demand by the IPOB leader for treatment abroad, which stated clearly that Kanu’s health challenges could be handled effectively by the DSS clinic.
In a message on his X, one of Kanu’s lawyers, Aloy Ejimakor, made public that the judge held that the Department of State Services, DSS, medical facility is adequate for his medical care.
According to the statement, the court held that the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, he has until 30th October to close his defense and adjourned the trial to 23rd October 2025 for commencement of his defence.
Recall, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been undergoing trial in Abuja for an alleged terrorism offence brought against him by the federal government since the administration of late Muhammadu Buhari whisked him away from Kenya.
