Abia State Police Command has apprehended Suspects for conspiracy, Gun running, unlawful possession of firearms and Attempted Murder.
The Suspects include: Kalu Ugwa Ogbonnaya and Agu Ugochukwu, arrested for Gun running, for conspiracy, and unlawful possession of firearms as well as Ukandu Leach, who is in the police net for attempted murder.

A release endorsed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia command, names exhibits recovered from them to include: Pump action gun with Breech No:MY1183234, Mossberg 930 pump action with Breech No: AFO44698, Seventy-six (76) rounds of live cartridges and a Locally made double-barrelled gun
According to the release, detectives from the Central Police Station, Umuahia, on 17/10/2025, apprehended 54 years old Kalu Ugwa Ogbonnaya in connection with a cargo consignment with Waybill No: HN-INT-7320Do-FDY-U.
“The consignment contained twenty six (26) live cartridge and another carton containing a pump action gun with Breech No: MY1183234.
“Further search of the consignment led to the recovery of one Mossberg 930 pump action with Breech No: AFO44698 and fifty (50) rounds of live cartridges, all of which were to be received by the suspect.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the consignment was to be received from him by Agu Ugochukwu male 39 years, who has been apprehended. He further stated that Agu was to receive the consignment on behalf of another suspect residing in the United States.
The release made public that the suspects are currently in custody, while investigation continues at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia.
On the attempted murder case, the release explained that on 23/10/2025, in prompt response to a distress call in Aba, operatives of the Scorpion Squad apprehended 43 year old Ukandu Leach, who claimed to be a member of a vigilante group,for shooting Chukwu Emeka male, 39 years on his right leg.
According to the statement, the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention and suspect apprehended while a locally made double barreled gun was recovered from him. Investigation is ongoing.
